Square shaped lidded censor. The lid is heavily enameled and gilded with flowers and swirls with four heart shaped holes. The front is decorated with three ladies and three children. The back is a coast line scene with a building. The side panels depict wisteria and bamboo. There is a lot of wear to the gilding on the handles, knob and feet.

Large Satsuma Lidded Vase

Large lidded vase. The lid is ornamented with a Shishi and ball. The handles on the vase are styled as butterflies. The feet are formed in the shape of a lions face and foot. On the main body there are two panels. The 'front' panel depicts a Samurai reading a scroll with another sitting at his feet, while the other shows a rather splendid bird of prey perched on a branch. Unfortunately some of the gilding has been worn on this magnificent piece. There is a slight chip to the rim.
